CAS President Urges More Efforts in Quake Relief

CAS President LU Yongxiang, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of NPC, paid a visit to The Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth (CEODE) on May 20, 2008. During this inspection tour, Prof. Lu stressed that Additional efforts should be made in the quake rescue and relief work at CEODE in terms of earthquake information collection and communion as a data pool.

He said that CAS will support all its related Branches, CEODE on particular to carry out quake relief work under the overall leadership of the local government. Continued efforts should be made to rescue the victims in the tremor.

Moreover, Prof. Lu called on CEODE to actively offer their consultative service to central and local governments in the reconstruction of the quake-jolted regions by make full play of their advantages in research professionals, expertise and scientific facilities.
