ISDE6 News Conference Held in Beijing

The news conference of the 6th International Symposium on Digital Earth (ISDE6) was held at Beijing International Conference Center on Sep 7th. More than twenty domestic media representatives from China Daily, Xinhua News Agency, People’s Daily, Guangming Daily, Science and Technology Daily, Beijing TV, etc., have attended the news conference.

Then news conference was hosted by Zhang Bing, deputy director of Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth and secretary-general of ISDE6 Organizing Committee. Prof. Guo Huadong, director-general of Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth and chairman of ISDE6 Organizing Committee made an introduction to media present at the conference the developing history of Digital Earth, International Symposia on Digital Earth, and the preparations for this meeting. Prof. Guo also gave replies to journalists’ questions about development and applications of Digital Earth technology and other information in relation to this meeting. As Prof. Guo stated, this meeting was convened to elaborate on Digital Earth from a newer and higher perspective, to further discuss the developing trend and goal of Digital Earth in the future, as well as to promote rapid growth of Digital Earth and industrialization of spatial remote sensing information.

ISDE6, with the theme of “Digital Earth in Action”, is a world-famous international event since the 1st International Symposium on Digital Earth was initiated in China. This conference would be held during Sep 9th-12th and more than 1000 scholars, government and enterprise representatives from over 40 countries would attend it.
