The first organizing committee meeting of
Digital Earth Exhibition at the ISDE6 and signing ceremony
for the first bulk ISDE6 enterprise’s sponsorship was held in Beijing

The first organizing committee meeting of “Digital Earth in China” Exhibition at the 6th International Symposium on Digital Earth (ISDE6) together with a signing ceremony for the first 6 sponsors was held in Beijing Beichen Intercontinental Hotel on May 31st successfully. The experts, scholars and representatives from the related institutions and universities in the fields related to Digital Earth attended the meeting.

The ISDE6 is hosted by the International Society for Digital Earth and (ISDE) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and organized by the Center for Earth Observation and Digital Earth, CAS and ISDE Chinese Committee. The symposium will be held from Sept 9 to 12, 2009 and its theme is “Digital Earth in Action”.

The Exhibition on Digital Earth in China is one of the essential activities of ISDE6. It will show some representative achievements and innovative results in the Digital Earth theories, technologies and applications. The organizing committee of this exhibition has been established, and the working plan and modules of the exhibition have been formed. It symbolized the commencement of the exhibition for demonstrating the achievement on Digital Earth in China in the past 10 years.

Prof. Guo Huadong, chairman of ISDE6 Organizing Committee, firstly introduced the first group of 6 sponsor enterprises for the symposium, and highly appreciated their strong support to the 6th International Symposium on Digital Earth. ISDE6 secretariat will keep further close contact with these outstanding enterprises on geospatial information, and make good cooperation through ISDE6 platform to facilitate the development of Digital Earth and serve the economic and social development.

The ISDE6 with the theme "Digital Earth in Action" will play a crucial role in promoting international exchange and cooperation in building and developing digital earth theory, its frameworks and technologies; digital earth application, digital earth for global environmental change, earth observation technologies and other relevant fields. The symposium will review the achievements in digital earth and discuss the developing tendency of digital earth through the invited keynote speeches, special sessions for the 10th ISDE anniversary and several parallel sessions. It must be a very welcome event.
